The Monasterio de Tarlac and its Sacred Relic of the True Cross

The Monasterio de Tarlac houses a precious relic – a fragment of the True Cross upon which Jesus Christ was crucified. The monastery sits atop offering scenic views of Central Luzon plains.

The Monasterio initially served as a hermitage house for monks in 2003. But in 2005, Fr. Archie – head of the congregation – met Msgr. Volker Bauer in Germany who offered to donate a portion of the True Cross to the Monasterio.

Thrilled by this sacred gift, Fr. Archie made arrangements for the relic’s shipment. On January 29, 2007, Msgr. Bauer flew to Tarlac and presented the Silver Reliquary containing the relic of the True Cross. Apostolic Nuncio Archbishop Filoni consecrated the relic along with Tarlac Bishop Cinense.

The relic of the True Cross is enshrined in a chapel within the Monasterio grounds. Pilgrims and visitors come to pray before the sacred relic, seeking blessings and spiritual graces.

Perched on Mt. Resurrection, the Monasterio de Tarlac with its relic of the True Cross has become an important spiritual destination in Tarlac, offering visitors a glimpse of heaven on earth.
